About Demi Lovato

Demetria Devonne "Demi" Lovato[1] (born August 20, 1992) is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She is best known for her roles as Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock and its upcoming sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, and as Sonny Munroe in Sonny With a Chance. As a solo musical artist, Lovato released her debut album Don't Forget on September 23, 2008. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 selling over 89,000 copies in the first week.[2] Lovato released her second album, Here We Go Again, on July 21, 2009.[3] The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 selling over 108,000 copies in the first week.Early lifeLovato was born in Dallas, Texas[1] to Patrick and Dianna Lovato (née Hart).[5] She has an older sister, Dallas, and a younger half sister, Madison De La Garza.[1] Her mother was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and country recording artist; her father moved to New Mexico after their marriage ended in 1994. Lovato is of Mexican, Italian, and Irish ancestry.
Career
Lovato began her acting career at the age of seven on the children's television series Barney & Friends as Angela, appearing in seasons seven and eight alongside long time friend Selena Gomez. In 2006 Lovato guest starred on Prison Break as Danielle Curtin in the episode "First Down". She also appeared in the second season of the television sitcom Just Jordan as Nicole, in the episode "Slippery When Wet". In January 2007, she landed the role of Charlotte Adams on the Disney Channel Original Short Series, As the Bell Rings, which premiered on August 26, 2007. A few of her original songs, including "Shadow," were featured on the show. Upon leaving the show, her character was replaced by Lindsey Black.
Lovato sang a cover of "That's How You Know" from the film Enchanted. The song was released on DisneyMania 6 on May 20, 2008.
Camp Rock
Lovato performing in the summer of 2008.In 2008, Lovato starred in the Disney Channel film, Camp Rock. She played Mitchie Torres, a fourteen-year-old girl with hopes of becoming a singer. The movie premiered on June 20 in the USA on Disney Channel with 8.9 million viewers, making Lovato a house-hold name among tweens.[9] She provided vocals on four of the songs featured on the Camp Rock soundtrack, including "This Is Me" featuring Joe Jonas.[10]
From June 1 to July 31, 2008, Lovato performed at various House of Blues and parks for her Demi Live! Warm Up Tour.
Lovato served as the opening act in the Jonas Brothers Burning Up Tour from June to August. The tour was filmed into a concert movie and was released on February 27, 2009. Lovato was featured in the concert movie performing "This Is Me" with Joe Jonas.
Don't Forget
On September 23, 2008, Lovato released her debut album Don't Forget. The album's first single, "Get Back", was released on August 12, 2008. The album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200.[11] In December, the second single "La La Land" was released. In March of 2009, the third single "Don't Forget" was released.
Sonny With A Chance
Lovato next starred in the Disney Channel Original Series, Sonny With a Chance, which premiered on February 8, 2009.[12] The series will have a second season, which will debut on March 14.[13] The show stars Lovato as Sonny who becomes the new cast member of a live comedy show, So Random!.
Princess Protection Program
On April 15, 2008, it was announced that Lovato was going on tour to promote her up-coming album.[14] The tour began on June 21 in Hartford, Connecticut and ended on Aug. 24 in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Lovato and her band performing in her 2009 Summer TourOn June 26, 2009 Lovato co-starred in Princess Protection Program as Princess Rosalinda alongside Selena Gomez on Disney Channel.[15] The TV movie is about a young Princess who is taken into custody by the Princess Protection Program and is whisked away to rural Louisiana where she must learn the ins and outs of behaving like a normal American teenager.
Here We Go Again
Lovato released her second studio album, Here We Go Again on July 21, 2009. The album debuted at #1 with 108,000 first-week sales.[16] Regarding the album, Lovato says: "It’s going to take a different sound, so hopefully it goes over well. I sing a lot of rock, but this time I want to do more John Mayer-ish type of songs. Hopefully I can write with people like him."[17] The first single off the album, titled the same as the album, was released on June 17, 2009.[18] "Here We Go Again" became Lovato's highest charting song at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100.[19] During the summer of 2009 Lovato along with other Disney Channel stars took part in Disney's Friends for Change, a pro-social "green" initiative. The theme song, titled "Send It On", for the project is performed by Lovato along with Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers.[20] In September 2009, filming for Camp Rock 2 began.[21] On November 10, 2009 she released a Live CD+DVD of her Walmart Soundcheck performance.[22] On November 12, she released a music video for "Remember December", her third single from Here We Go Again.
She appeared on We The Kings's second studio album Smile Kid as a contributing guest vocals on the album's song "We'll Be a Dream".

Personal life

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Lovato admitted to going through painful experiences with bullying in the seventh grade.[23] According to Lovato, the bullying was so bad that one day, in a fit of frustration and distress, she requested her mom give her a home-schooled education.She wrote the song "For the Love of a Daughter" about her estranged father.
In an MTV interview, Lovato stated that she likes metal music, especially black metal and metalcore. She called symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir "one of her favorite live acts".[25] On the July 24, 2009 episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Lovato stated that three of her favorite bands were Abigail Williams, Job for a Cowboy, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. In the March 2009 issue of Teen Vogue, Lovato stated, "My first passion is music, because it comes naturally to me. Acting has been like a hobby."
Lovato is best friends with Selena Gomez, whom she has known since Lovato "asked her to sit on my jacket and draw with crayons with me" at the Barney & Friends auditions. Lovato is also a Christian and prays with her band before they perform.[1] She briefly dated Metro Station singer Trace Cyrus; the two ended their relationship in July 2009 due to conflicting schedules, according to Cyrus.
